Service
The greatest pillar of healthcare is service. See how CURA members dedicate time to empower and support communities!

Cancer Prevention Pantry

CURA’s NJ chapter has now collaborated with the Rutgers Cancer Health Equity Institute, ScreenNJ, and Kinney Community Garden for their Cancer Prevention Pantry twice!
We’ve packaged 300+ bags of fresh produce, utensils, and educational resources.
CURA also had its own table, handing out flyers and pamphlets while holding important conversations with community members. We already plan to be back in October for their next event!
Special thank you to Secureats for bringing volunteers, Ms. Barbara Weiland for being so welcoming, and all other volunteers — you make all the difference.

Women’s Healthcare Event & Drive

CURA’s Washington chapter partnered with Heal The Divide to educate patrons of the Redmond Library in Washington on women’s healthcare equity!
We explored the realities that women face when it comes to reproductive & menstrual health, and talked about how we can all help create a more equitable future.
CURA also hosted a menstrual product drive at the event!
Thank you to Heal The Divide for working towards this important cause with us and to the staff at the Redmond Library for having us!

Center for Hope and Safety

Our founder recently turned 17 and asked guests and peers to bring in period and baby products instead of gifts! The response was incredible; thanks to everyone’s support, we collected over 60 boxes and more than 1,000 units of hygiene items to donate.
Board members Claire, Amna, and Clara personally delivered these donations to the Center for Hope and Safety, Bergen County’s only domestic violence shelter.
Ellen, thank you for showing us around, explaining your mission, and continuing to inspire us through your daily efforts. The CHS is truly a special place and we are beyond glad to have been able to contribute.

Columbia Community Care

Our Maryland branch partnered with Columbia Community Care for an all-welcome pantry event at Oakland Mills Barn, supporting access to both nutrition and health equity in Howard County.
Our members helped set up the space, packaged 50+ bags of fresh produce, organized donations, and distributed food to over 45 families, ensuring that healthy options were available to those who need them most. Access to fresh food is a vital part of healthcare equity, and we are committed to bridging gaps where resources are limited!
We are excited to return this month for another event, where we’ll also begin sharing CURA’s health education pamphlets to connect families not just with food, but with information that empowers healthier choices.
A huge thank you to Jason, the site coordinator, and all the volunteers who made this possible!

Community Clothing Drive

CURA’s Texas chapter partnered with Star of Hope, Clothed by Faith, and The Women’s Home to help keep our community warm this winter. Our members came together to host a clothing drive, and thanks to everyone’s generosity, we collected and donated over 30 bags of clothing across three different areas of Texas.
Access to warm clothing is a matter of health, safety, and dignity. These donations will support people of all ages and genders, helping reduce preventable risks during the colder months and ensuring that everyone has the chance to feel cared for and provided for!
A big thank you to our incredible partner organizations and to everyone who contributed to making this drive a success.

Community Pantry

Our Maryland chapter partnered once again with Columbia Community Care for a pantry event at the Wilde Lake Interfaith Center!
They helped promote access to nutritious food and essential supplies – a cornerstone of health equity! Our members helped organize donations such as healthy snacks and canned goods, packaged baby wipes for families, and distributed these resources to over 50 individuals in need.
We’re grateful to Vivian and Rachel for guiding us through this new location, and we look forward to continuing our efforts to build a healthier, more equitable community together.

Linking Initiative for Neighborhood Change

Our NJ chapter had an amazing time sorting at LINC! We collaborated with LINC’s volunteers and helped over 50 families with hundreds of household essentials, toiletries, and food. This community event is designed to allow families to walk through and ‘shop’ with the same freedom to choose had they been in a store!
This event was super special to us; service should ensure dignity and process, and we are so glad LINC helped us prioritize that!
Special thanks for Abigail and Aidan — we miss it already.
