Senator Meetings
We believe that policy is one of the greatest ways healthcare equity can be affected, both positively and negatively. In order to best understand our role as students and avid civic participants in healthcare, we decided to meet with those who’d know the best and gain insight into this intersection of government and medicine.

Our board members met with Senator Andy Kim’s office to discuss his commitment to advancing equity, his personal experiences with healthcare accessibility, and potential areas across New Jersey where student involvement could make a meaningful impact. Through field representative Jason Ingle, we were also connected to the senator’s grants office to coordinate letters of support after sharing the work we’ve accomplished!

Later this year, we also met with Senator Cory Booker’s office. We spoke with Ms. Bianca Markovski, Project Specialist to Senator Booker, who shared her experience managing the office’s healthcare portfolio. Our discussion covered student involvement in legislative action, the impact of recent governmental changes, and how concerned constituents can create meaningful change. Hearing her firsthand insights from working closely with medical professionals gave us valuable perspective on how to better approach legislative barriers.
